– Intensive Outpatient ProgramOur program has been designed to help individuals who suffer with Anxiety and/or OCD who are in need of an intensive and more “hands on” approach. A person who is suffering with moderate to severe, or even extreme OCD, experiences racing thoughts which can create havoc quickly. Taking a traditional therapy approach, which is typically once a week, will have little effect and does not generally lead to a successful outcome. This is because there is too much time between sessions, and this undermines any real and lasting progress.
Each Adult IOP Session will typically include 15 hours of therapy per week, plus 2 hours of homework each day. Our program is an intensive experience, which includes one-on-one therapy, psycho-education, group therapy, relaxation skills, mindfulness, and many other techniques which allows for steady and lasting progress. When this occurs, individuals are able to decipher what is truth and what is a result of anxiety. It may seem like a significant amount of time to invest; however, it is little compared to the time in one’s life that is lost through obsessions and rituals. The IOP helps individuals take the leap they need to get control over their fears and be able to live life in a healthy and fulfilling way. By learning through the intensive therapy processes, new neuropathways develop in your brain, which create a significant reduction in anxiety in your normal day-to-day life. Experience has shown that it is only by facing fears and creating new neuropathways, that can you truly learn to manage OCD.
– Follow Up Post IOP Therapy Sessions
We highly encourage follow up sessions after the successful completion of our program. Our main goal is to provide continued maintenance as you continue to strengthen yourself with the use of our Exposure and Response Prevention Program. We typically see clients visiting us for 2-3 session per week for an additional 2-3 weeks after completion of the IOP program. We then taper to 1-2 sessions per week for several weeks, then occasional sessions to maintain accountability to themselves and avoid full relapse.
– Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly Therapy Sessions
Occasionally, a person’s unique circumstances do not fit into our traditional IOP and they would be best served by a more tailored, less invasive program to help them with OCD and/or anxiety. This might include a weekly therapy session which then can turn into bi-weekly or even monthly sessions.
